NOTE: If your mailbox post is damaged, we DO NOT advise rebuilding it using the current design because the new post design is being finalized now.
HISTORY: As the Highland Village community grew, the builder provided a mailbox/post to each Lot owner when the property sale closed. However, while the posts looked the same from afar, closer inspection showed that there were differences in the posts depending on when the post was built (1987-1995). Design requirements imposed by U.S.P.S. and the City of Woodbury, required the Association to look for design alternatives.
After meeting with the Woodbury U.S.P.S. branch in Summer 2023, we looked for design alternatives. Our new design changes the location of the mailbox supports, raises the mailbox height, provides a 10-inch clearance beneath the mailbox, and removes the newspaper box. The placement of the new post depends upon the 811 utility markings. Many Highland Village Lots have utilities installed close the current placement of the current mailbox post. However, the biggest change to the mailbox post design is that owners whose mailboxes are clustered will now have their mailbox mounted on a single post, multi-mailbox design. This change will mitigate future costs associated with maintenance and replacement. Lot owners whose mailboxes are not clustered will continue to have a single post, single mailbox using the new design. Mailbox clusters of only two mailboxes will use a single post, two mailbox design. All other mailbox clusters (3, 4, 5) will use a two-post, cross bar design.
