Architectural Rules

Living in Highland Village means that there are some rules about what changes can happen to/on your Lot.

Exterior Changes

If you are changing the exterior of your house or yard, contact us to determine if you need pre-approval BEFORE starting work.
If you're repainting trim or doors, or replacing siding or roofing, and  are using THE SAME COLOR SCHEME that is on your house now, or if you  are having your blacktop driveway seal-coated, you do not need prior  approval.

The Association has 30 days from the date of confirmed receipt of your signed Architectural Approval Form to reply to a proposed architectural change.

Mailbox guidelines
Information about HVHA mailbox requirements are on the Mailbox Info page.

Forms

Find the forms you need on the Architectural Docs page under the Downloads section.

These are the most frequently inquired about restrictions. There are additional restrictions not listed here. Contact us for details.

Trash & Recycling Containers  must be stored out of view per Association Covenants, Lot owners must  keep trash and recycling containers out of public view. Our  Architectural Guidelines meet City of Woodbury Code for shielded,  outdoor storage of receptacles.

POD Moving & Storage Containers can be stored on your driveway for use during a move-in or move-out for a period not to exceed 3 days.

Signs are restricted as follows:

  • One alarm system sign no large than thirty-six (36) square inches may be posted.
  • One  standard “For Sale” sign no larger than five (5) square feet is allowed  per Lot, no foreclosure language on the sign is permitted.
  • A  non-commercial (political sign) of no more than six (6) square feet may  be posted in any number from August 1 in a state general election year  until ten (10) days following the election. A non-commercial sign may be  posted for special elections from thirty (30) days before the election  until ten (10) days after the election.
  • A  temporary commercial sign of not more than two (2) square feet for a  licensed contractor or business conducting Lot maintenance or  improvement  may be displayed on days that contractors are on site, and  for 10 days after the completion of work.
